Admissions
Fall 2009 Undergraduate Admissions for Academic Year 2010-2011

The Film Department's undergraduate BFA track is a limited access program in PRODUCTION -- only a select number of students are invited to join the program each year. The application process for this track includes a separate Film Department application, a creative portfolio, and a possible interview. Applications are received between October and December each year. Full details of the process are outlined below.

The Film Department also offers an open major in CINEMA STUDIES which is not a limited access track. Interested students can apply directly to UCF Undergraduate Admissions (407) 823-3000 and upon acceptance to UCF, declare Cinema Studies as their major and meet with a Cinema Studies advisor for course selection.

Film Department Application Process

Step 1. Apply and be accepted to UCF Undergraduate Admissions
You must be a current UCF student or admitted to UCF by March in order to be accepted into the Film Program for the following fall semester. Contact Undergraduate Admissions for an application at 407-823-3000 to UCF. The University Admissions process runs concurrently with the Film Admissions process.

Step 2. Read Creative Portfolio Specifications
Assemble a creative portfolio that meets all the specifications listed in the Portfolio Requirements section. Portfolios that don't meet the requirements will not be considered. All sections of the portfolio should be submitted online. You will receive e-mail confirmation of our receipt of your electronic submitted application and portfolio.

If you choose to submit a video project as part of your application, it must be submitted via YouTube. This is the only acceptable method of submission. Mail in/walk in DVD's, tapes, or other website URLs will not be accepted. Please put the correct URL address for your Youtube video in the space provided. Please list the video title and your role(s) in it's creation in the spaces provided. Videos must be no more than 5 minutes in total running time.

Step 3. Apply to the Film Department and Submit Creative Portfolio
The Film Department Application should be completed and include your portfolio. You must complete the application online with your portfolio.

Step 4. Interview
Candidates who pass the initial portfolio review may be interviewed by the selections committee, either in person or by phone, before final selections are made.

Step 5. Announcements
When the selection committee completes its review, all students are notified as to whether they've been accepted, rejected or placed on an alternate list. Should accepted students choose not to attend the program, their spots are taken by alternates.
