Production
Bachelor of Fine Arts

The B.F.A. in Production provides students with a grounding in the history, theory and aesthetics of film while developing their individual production skills, style and voice as entrepreneurial cinematic storytellers.

The program involves the student in the technical, economic and artistic processes of film and encourages creative exploration of the medium and its potential. Students take courses in Directing, Editing, Screenwriting and Production Management and actively seek the support and guidance of community professionals from Panavision, Kodak, the Orlando Film Commission and others to refine and complete their projects. They graduate having produced and/or directed one or more competition-ready short films and a variety of shorter projects. The program guides students through the process of submitting their work to film festivals and many students have received recognition and awards through such screenings.

Should a student discover his or her talents are more suited to writing, it is possible to concentrate on the development of a completed feature length screenplay in the senior year, instead of a Capstone (or senior level) short film.

B.F.A. graduates will be prepared to work in the film industry, develop and produce their own projects or attend graduate school. Their skills will also be applicable to a variety of related fields, ranging from advertising/marketing to education.
