Facilities & Equipment
The Stuff You Need To Make Movies
The tools of movie production are many and varied. Some are obvious - cameras and lights, microphones and editing systems. Some are a bit more conceptual - locations and insurance, soundstages and shooting permits. Access to these items - along with a compelling story and a talented team - can make the difference between an award-winning film and 20 minutes of video fluff so dull even your parents nod off when watching it.
UCF FILM offers a complete range of production and post-production equipment and facilities to its students. Should your vision exceed our inventory, we've negotiated deals with supportive local vendors like Panavision, Digitec, and Chapman-Leonard so our students can acquire goods and services at vastly reduced rates. Finally, when it comes to locations, Central Florida offers an endless bounty of accessible options. From suburbs to city streets, swampland to desolate country roads, UCF FILM students can find just about any look their script might require. In most cases, our close relationship with the Metro Orlando Film & Television Commission means legal permitting is just a phone call away.

The UCF Film Department is based in the Communications Building on the main UCF Campus in Orlando. There, we have 1,500 sq-foot soundstage, Final Cut Pro editing facilities and much, much more.

Required & Suggested Student Equipment
Although some students arrive at film school armed with their own cameras and editing systems, it's not required. However, there are a few pieces of gear we require production students to own and a few other things we strongly recommend.
