"There was a time in my life when I felt that all I had was art. I could write about love, write about intimacy, and create characters who were accepted by those they desired, but at the end of each day, these were concepts, observations and imaginings I could not call my own.

As I grew older, I started discovering new people & sensations. I began to try to capture them in both my writing and my art. But as the experiences became more intense, my will, as well as my ability, to stop and archive them lessened. I soon realized that so much of the creative work I had done was manifested through loneliness & time. When I fell in love, and for the first time, it was returned, I didn't have time to sit down with my journal. I was enjoying life everyday as much as I possibly could.

This film is all about that state of mind. When we have to address how our art is imitating, or obstructing, our own lives. People may have problems with the film, or feel it is anti-art. The fact is, art will always imitate or abstract life, especially art that is autobiographical. If the lives we lead are not fulfilling, what good is our art? We must channel experience into our work, and lack of experience shows.

I made this film long after I had experienced the sensations I dreamt about during those darker times. I've fallen in love, lost people I cared about, and succeeded in my creative goals amidst great obstacles. I've seen beauty, but more importantly, I've touched, smelled, and tasted beauty. It was time to capture that. The texture, tone, and feel of what that incredible process is like to go through for the first time.

There are some moments we cannot capture, and I accepted that a long time ago. But after living on both sides, after watching from a distance, then feeling from the inside, I was ready to put it all on screen.

I will always be proud of what I was finally able to capture with this film."
