"I wanted to show the difficulties for young people who are first coming out. They have to deal with people who are not accepting of their sexual orientation. They have to look over their shoulders when they want a moment with their partner in public. They have to deal with stares and laughter because they are considered different. They also have to deal with parents who do not agree with their feelings for someone of the same sex. Some parents disown their children because of this. Most people are set in their ways of believing only a man and a woman can coexist with one another. Some young people are punished for falling in love with someone of their own gender. Most of these young people do not choose to be gay, they just feel a connection to someone of their sex."

"In my film, I wanted the character of Kasey to overcome the circumstances for the person she loves. I also wanted to show that people do not have to be ashamed of who they are. Katie is someone who people strive to be. She is very open and honest about being gay. It is not about what everyone else thinks, but about what you and your partner think. I hope people will not only look at my film as a story, but as a statement of how some young gay people really feel and what they sometimes go through in everyday life."
